Kona bonahs - January 16, 2012

Fresh kona winds coupled with sizable north to northwest swell opens up a hell of a lot of options. Kelven and I took full advantage of the south winds on Martin Luther King Day and ended up surfing a right that was perfect for dropknee-ing. How rare is it to get south winds like this? Super rare. In fact, annually, southwest "kona" winds hit once or twice a month, but straight south winds happen less than five times a year. The picture below is gold: not a single person out, perfectly groomed with the offshore winds, and 2-4 feet, with a dropping tide. Kona bonahs.
